My name is Will Sidney, and I am a 22 year old Actuarial Mathematics student in Dublin, Ireland. Alongside chess, l have many other interests, including football, tennis and travelling. I have also been a chess coach for over 2 years now.

As a player, I have played underage for my country at the u14 European Championships, and represented my club at the 2024 European Club Cup, scoring 5/7.
I have played just over 200 over the board classical games in the past 2 years, gaining 500 Fide points, so I know all about club level improvement!

As a chess teacher, I have given private lessons to students from 7 to 55 years old, and players of all skill levels, ranging from beginners all the way up to 1900 Fide. I also teach group lessons every week in various primary schools in the Dublin area.

My exact lesson pattern will vary from student to student. Typically, I will spend the first lesson familiarizing myself with a student's playstyle, what they are strong at, what their weaknesses are, normally through a brief analysis of their games, whether that be over the board classical games, or online rapid games. Taking those learnings, we will then work together with the aid of specialized puzzles, model games and exercises to imorove the student's game and target their weaknesses. I believe that a player's goal should always to be as well rounded as possible, so this methodology will ensure you are constantly improving and working to bring your worst attribute to match your best. Along with this, I will also help build an opening repertoire for students if they wish, one that matches their playstyle and brings them to positions in which they can flourish.
