I only have one interesting chess story:

I used to play on the same school chess team as Heath Ledger.  I was on board #4, he was board #1.  I remember being at the State School Championships as a 12 year old, in a room with over 200 kids.

At the end of the day only 2 kids remained undefeated, Heath and another.  Eventually they faced each other, and everyone stopped to watch, to find out who was the best of the best.

The other kid looked serious, nervous, concentrating hard... but Heath loved the audience and seemed to grow with the pressure.  He just sat there with a sly, confident grin on his face the whole time, without a care in the world, making moves in 1 second, simply to put on a show everyone watching.  He still won... and easily.

Heath had a devious brain with serious tactical talent.  It's such a shame he stopped playing chess shortly afterwards because it wasn't "cool" enough.  The loss for chess was a win for acting I guess.

Only after his death did I hear he had taken up chess again as an adult.  It would've been good to see him play again.

I'm loving this song from Sweden's We Are the Catalyst:
