Northampton Junior Chess Club (NJCC) meets every Friday at the Sixth Form Centre of Caroline Chisholm Secondary School from 17:15 to 19:45. Children aged 6-17 welcome as members, aged 16-17 also as mentors, and more adult coaches welcome too! Any level of ability welcome, from absolute beginners to chess geniuses!
We mostly focus on giving the members an opportunity to play chess amongst themselves, with regular all-play-all tournaments and a ladder/rating system, and trophies awarded every three months; see our website for current rankings and competition standings.
We also have coaches present to run training sessions and individual coaching, including reviewing recorded games, to help our members learn and progress.
The club also has a social aspect, giving the members a chance to meet up with other like-minded children in a lively, fun environment.
Cost per member is £30 per quarter (discount for siblings); two "taster" sessions are free!
