Hello everyone. This is Momin Fayzan. I've been playing for 6 years and I'm a National Master from Pakistan. I am looking for dedicated students in the 1600-2000 chess.com blitz/ rapid range.

Before anything else, let me tell you about my approach to chess. I find that at an 1600-2000 blitz/rapid  level on chess.com, players lack an understanding of pawn structures. Philidor said it best “Pawns are the soul of chess.” Pawn structures not only dictate potential weaknesses but also dictate piece placement. And piece placement is, of course central to general chess strategy. Yes, tactics win most games. But putting your pieces on good squares whilst preventing your opponent from doing the same will mean that tactical opportunities are more likely to appear for you. Moreover, tactics are easy to improve just by repeatedly solving puzzles. However, where I can seriously add value is by showing you how to handle specific pawn structures, how to put your pieces on the best squares, how to handle nuances in chess openings, how to identify favourable strategic scenarios, and of course how to spot critical moments where is is likely that either side has some decisive tactical shot.

I should mention that I am a native English speaker and don't think any prospective students will struggle with understanding my accent. If you are in the rating range of 1600-2000 chess.com blitz and are interested in lessons, send me your last 20 rapid / classical games. Don't filter out games, just share your last 20 rapid/ classical games. Also do introduce yourself and let me know about your age, ambitions, and journey. Let me know everything you've done to date, how you work on chess, how much time you can realistically dedicate on a weekly basis, so on and so forth. Do also mention if you’ve plateaued and whether you’ve purchased any material. This will help me understand your weaknesses so that we can work together more effectively. If I find that we are a fit, and believe that I can add value, then we can meet on a zoom call where I will share my approach with you and let you know what I think we should work on. If all sounds good, we can formally start our lessons.

Moreover, I will give weekly homework and primarily focus on game analysis during our sessions. The reason for this is that I will be providing my students with high quality material to study in their free time. For example, if I think a student lacks understanding of how to play isolated queens pawn middle games, I would much rather send them some model games and give them something to study rather than cover this in our session. In cases where a student is truly perplexed by some material, I would be more than happy to cover it within lectures. If instead, I find that at some moment in a lesson, it would be an extremely teachable moment to go over some classical game or discuss some moment in depth, I may do so. My rate is USD 30 per hour, open to negotiation. Students are free to play training games with me and I am always just a message away.
