I learned chess from my father, a strong intutive player. I continued to play in college (Carleton College, MN) and med school (U Minnesota) and had some success in USCF and college tournaments, but dropped out of chess completely during medical school to concentrate on my studies.  I got back into chess 40 years later when I accidentally learned that members of my tennis group were avid players.  I had only played 2 games in the previous 40 years (!). I learned about chess.com through tennis.  This is a wonderful website.
