I am trying to make a comeback after reaching Expert in 1987 and then taking a 27-year break. I think my play is nearly as strong as in the 80's, but my local community is terrifically strong, especially the kids....
I thrive on insane positions where both sides could lose at any moment.
A brief note on the WCM title: This title is earned for a FIDE rating of 2000 or greater, which I held in the 1980's; the title did not exist at the time but I applied for it when I returned to competition, shortly before I ruined my FIDE rating by losing to a lot of very low-rated kids. In contrast, most WCM titles in my state are held by young players who won national or international events.
