What a Year!

It is amazing how time flies. I have been in Chess.com a little over a year, it has been a year of many joyful Chess victories as well as devastating and frustrating losses. I have also enjoyed the privilege of meeting wonderful people in the US and all over the world. I want to thank Erik and his excellent team for making Chess.com happen.

Looking at my past games, I played Black in the following one. I made some mistakes in it, but regardless, I consider this my best victory in this awesome site and I want to share it with everyone.

Here it is...

Greenlaser, I stand and correct, you are right. After your suggested sequence White's passed b-pawn would have put Black in serious trouble.

Black quickly won using a queen, two, knights, and a rook to attack, with a hanging bishop in the mix. White had to remove some of the attacking pieces. 33.Bxe4 Rxf5 34.Bxf5 gives White chances to defend. White has a rook, bishop, and knight for a queen. If White lives, the passed b-pawn with a possible a-pawn added will be worth something.

Interesting things happened. 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 d5 allows 3.cxd5 Nxd5 4.e4. Better is 3...g6 (Gruenfeld Defense). In the game, after 3.Nc3 e6 as played, or g6 or c6 are OK. After 4.Nf3 h6 is not right. Later, White had 23.fxe4 because the idea of Ng4? is answered by 24.Rxf5+-. Instead of 32.Bc2 White should have played 32.Nf4. After not doing that, White had to try 33.Bxe4.

Venkat, on 32.Bc2 I said threatening Mate "eventually" at h7, meaning it was not an immediate Mate because like you said, the Knight was protecting h7.

It's a pleasure how sharp game played my friend. Everybody makes mistakes and what is more also the world champions. There was in ruins White's King-side and the two Black Knights practised magic mate on the corner (h1-field). I think it is necessary to correct two opinion. What is the chess? The chess is a game of battle. But the chess helps not for the soldier but for everybody who want attain the logical way of thinking. Of course the opening was the Queen's Gambit Declined. In my last blog I presented the Capablanca - Alekhine game where the opening was almost same, similarly with a3 and b6-Bb7 developing. The opening of the game in the book of Panov: Queen's Gambit. (300 selected games of Alekhine). Thanks you for post of this interesting attacking game!

Hey, at :-

32. Bc2, you have commented that it threats mate a h7. Well, the knight is defending the mate on h7. So the move does not threat mate.

Anyway, it was a wonderful game!!
