I wonder what do you guys think about chess 2 , my opinion is that a modern take on chess, meaning a chess inspired game sharing similar DNA yet innovative and different would be very exciting, while tweaked chess is something questionable yet if joyful to play could be great, I am a game designer myself and very happy to see people work on logical games like chess2 rather than well you know....

I would be interested in a change in regular chess in such a situation where, for example, Qg7 is not checkmate because if black king captures queen, white bishop will be exposing his king to black's rook if it "kills" black king. Play would resume with black king not being able to capture white queen because it would come under fire from white bishop. So in this case, black's only hope is preventing white king from moving out of rook's path, which would result in a draw with no other pieces to move. If on the otherhand white succeeds in moving its king, or in shielding it with another piece, than it would be an automatic checkmate. Makes sense? Tricky stuff and I haven't thouhght it through, but you get the point.
