Woah, this must be one of the most beautiful chess sets I've ever seen! All pieces look awesome, especially the very detailed knights!
Does anyone recognize these chess pieces?

The pictures are not very clear (I possibly will make a better series when I have time), but the heads of the knights are very realistic. Also, they are naturally small around the nose. Unnaturally small for a chess piece.
I read that the first Staunton Knights were modeled from the Elgin marbles in the British Museum. Well, these knights really show that.
Someone stated that he/she played with the same set. Can you give more specific info about this set?
I would say the set was made in the late 70's/early to mid 80;s before that I don't think I ever seen a Knight with teeth. Even though I have a set made in India with teeth from around the 80's.

Well...
This set is the Stallion Set and you can see it in:

or
http://www.chessbaron.com/chess-X3001.htm

Yeah, I recognize those pieces. The first pic has, from left to right, a white pawn, a white king, a white queen, and a white rook. The second pic has a white bishop, white knight, then a black knight, and then a black bishop. Theo other 2 pics have too many pieces, so I won't name them all here. If u have trouble rezognizing any of the pieces specifically just leave a message here specifying which piece you can't recognize, and I'll help you.
I would say it's a Modern Indian set. Obviously Knights had teeth as early as the middle of the 19th century when the Staunton set was first produced so don't go by that. I guess I don't see why it couldn't be from the 70s or 80s, but it looks newer than that to me.

I think that I found this chess set on the internet:
http://www.chessbaron.com/chess-X2005.htm seems to be identical.
Greetings

What size are these? I'm guessing 3.5" height or even smaller. Proportions look not quite right for a 3.75" or 4" set. Am I right? Do I win a prize? Looks contemporary Indian set marred by the usual "wasp waisted" rook and the just OK knights. I have 2 similar "affordables" , one a 4" and the other 4.5" with huge N's. HOS are nicer in the collector series or similar quality but priced out of sight. Ebony is a treasure as a wood though and I say that owning and loving several ebonized sets. Ebony just puts it over the top. Nice post. I need to get a camera...
Your right... 91mm is about 3 5/8 inch King. I actually prefer this King size rather than the 3 3/4 King. The USCF crybaby Yuppies wanted a bigger King & they got their way with the manufacturers! Its kind of difficult to find a nice set with a 3 1/2 inch to 3 5/8 King anymore in a style I like.

They look a lot like a set I got on chessbaron.com, but now that I look closely, I can see there are a few differences... Great looking set anyway!

Ain't that the truth. I've been looking for a 3 3/4" set for some time now but haven't found anything I like. My old boxwood/rosewood set isn't bad but the pieces are weighted very unevenly. On the other hand, I've had that set for about thirty years and they have a wonderful aged color.
MLeense, that set looks very nice. They must be a joy to push around the board.
Good evening,
Last week I placed a bid an won a used chess set. Ebony and boxwood, king height 91 mm. The pieces are really heavy, and are nicely detailed. I would like to know more about this chess set. Do you recognize it, and can you tell me a bit more about it? By the way, I already owned the chess board.
