A new variation of Scotish?

Sort:

A few minutes ago, I played a chess game against my dad, he used the scottish gambit which I don't know very well.

Does anyone know if this opening has a name?

on 230 games after Bd5 on my database, 2 games with f5.

6...Nc5 is the main line, Bb4 is playable.

6...f5 was played in the first game in history with Bd5 (according databases) and here it is :

7.Nxd4 is a very bad move, i would rather castle or play Nbd2 and black will have difficulties to castle.

I think that the "obvious" 7.exf6 Nxf6 just helps black.

Inresting fresh variation but Nc5-e6 safer, this line doesnt trustworthy, weakening a2-g8 diagonal...

d5 is the main line on e5 but Ne4 is a respectable alternative.

Instead of Bd5 on Ne4, i prefer Qe2 for white, followed by a promising pawn sacrifice with c3, for instance :

Maybe black can improve on this, but the fun is more for white...

You don't want to get into an argument 5oS -- even though you're an IM, you'd need an engine to beat him -- it's the only way he loses.

IM pfren, I have a question (unrelated to this variation though). What do you think of 1. e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 exd4 4.Nxd4 Qh4 (Steinitz) on a U2000 level?

If you want to get hold of Lane's Book on the Scotch, the Steinitz (according to Lane) has been refuted by a timely sac on d6.
