I have used this several times in blitz play but would nver do it in an OTB tournament

Yeah, I know how you feel... I use it online (any time control) and OTB for blitz and rapid (10-30 mins). I haven't had the balls yet to play this in 2 hours each type games, but I can feel that day coming.

Prawn, it looks like Re8 might keep black alive, though white gets the piece back and another pawn.  Maybe long term, white is still winning here?  Black should be able to get the queens off...i think.

Please quote the post number and the move number.

Sorry.  @ move 16 in your blitz game, instead of Qe7, Re8.

On a side note, i used this gambit against a friend recently and he wandered into a trap...

16 .... Re8 17 Rh3 looks deadly.

Yeah, i missed that, after Re8 i just saw a ton of queen checks, but there's no need after Rh3

This is my latest blitz outing with the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit. Black gets greedy and falls into a less than obvious Queen trap. The rest is simplification and can be skipped. Comments?

p.s. 5 minutes each, no increment.

So is this the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit poisoned prawn variation?

not very safe to play against an aggressive pc try using it against computer3-hard and let's see what happens, but good article anyway, what happens if that is declined?

Well of course, Computer Hard is just too difficult, regardless of what opening I play!

The strange thing is that although Black may decline the BCG and transpose to other "safer" openings e.g. French, Caro-Kann he rarely does. I have yet to experience anyone declining the gambit, and I play this frequently in OTB Rapid-Play (normally around 15 mins each) tournaments and online (turn based and blitz).

Defacto

My game against higher rated player.....I love this opening.5 days per move game.
