Danish Gambit (with 3...D3!)

Sort:
MOthemasterPRO
Hi all.
Game Explorer suggests that after 3 c3, some GM's play 3...d3! with very good prospects for black. Idea is to force white to recapture and misplace bishop with bd3, and allow bc5 and eventual 0-0-0.
I like this. Any views?

Finally, one opponent tried 5. qe2 nc6 6. be3 ! How should black respond?

Yeah, I met this line often in rapid and blitz tournament. I accept all the gambit pawns then return them all. Here is my line: [1.e4 e5 2.d4 cxd4 3.c3 dxc3 4.Bc4 cxb2 5.Bxb2 then I start returning them d5! 6.Bxd5 Nf6 7.Bxf7 Kxf7 8.Qxd8 Bb4+ 9.Qd2 Bxd2 10.Nxd2 Re8 11.Ngf3 Nc6 12.0-0 Bg4 with decent play.]

This is what Bologan recommends (in alternative he gives JMB2010's suggestion) in his must-read for any 1.e4 e5 player "Bologan's Black Weapons in the Open Games". It is only half of the analysis he gives in his book, though. Anyway, I think the Qe7 move is not only good but also relatively unknown, and it has brought me many points. I hope it helped.
