Opening and Defense Solution

Hi. Though I knew how to play chess since my childhood, but for the last four years I have been playing chess quite regularly and seriously. Now according to my experience, I have decided to proceed further as:

1. while playing as White : I play King's Indian Attack

2. while playing as Black against e4 : I play Pirc Defense

3. while playing as Black against d4 : I play King's Indian Defense

The reason is that because in all of these openings first four or five moves are always same and need not to worry about what the opponent is doing.

I would welcome your suggestions on whether should I go ahead or change to some other Opening or Defense systems.

Bye.

Those are all very playable among chess mortals, as most of us are.

Some of the reasons people give for changing openings include: a) bored/tired of what you've been playing, b) want to learn new ideas that come with the new territory, c) having chosen a dubious system to play, needing to change to something more sound, and d) a desire to be fashionable - playing what the "big boys" are playing.

Change if you have a reason, but expect to get kicked in the knees for a bit until you become as familiar with the new opening(s) as you already are with your stated choices.

As for myself, I've never met a chess opening I wouldn't try nor one that I couldn't mess up royally. Smile

Best wishes.
