Piotr......Bobby Fischer was always left on his own as a child. As he grew up with his sister Mum was out and about. His family environment created this " need for isolation " that was what he was accustmed to . The earnings of GM's are not that great especially then . Plus he played only one game after his Russian win. He disliked to defend his title. Everyone wanted to make money from him...papers. pictures sell. I can understand his stand with  the tax collectors and everyone " bothering him constantly. Even Kasparov had a run in with the Club and formed his own Club. These are CHAMPS they are not going to bow down to any other authority . They know their worth

Jan Timman's comment (on the linked article) certainly resonates. Bobby saw further than most other people. Morphy too. Genius isn't an adequate description of what both men possessed.
