(This was a screen shot of chat from a very sore loser).

Naming and shaming is a no-no...

TheGrobe

Plus it's spelled looser, and if it's sore you should see a doctor.

Nope. Isn't it "loser"? You lose, not loose, as far as I know.

Joule5

Well, ok. Point taken.

And, it is loser. Looser is is opposite of tighter. I do wonder why naming and shaming is a no no. I also wonder why the thread would be deleted.

I don't know. The staff would delete it. If the guy you played against does this regularly he will probably be banned or have some punishment say he has to wait 10 minutes in between games.

Joule5

Grobe, I wonder if that's how you spell it in Canada? Try a google search.

I still think the thread is a good idea :)

Try to post in a group named "Cheating Forum". I think you can discuss it there if I'm not wrong.

What if you won a game fairly and your opponent falsely accused you of cheating?  How would you feel about naming and shaming in that situation?

HHHmmm, good question. Doesn't bother me much, but still doesn't feel good either. anyone who reviews any of my games will be convinced that I never have used a cheat. That's probably why I don't care *that* much to be accused. Clear conscience.

I wouldn't name and shame that personally, but not opposed to it. How do you feel about it?

klfay1

I can't say, since the original screen shot was deleted before I opened the thread.  With my outstanding rating, I can't imagine I would be accused either.  I just threw that out there as an example.

But what if a new member who is a very good player (say 1900 FIDE) came on the site with his or her provisional 1200 rating and started hammering several higher rated players?

To me, even if someone is guilty of doing something inappropriate, the proper course of action is to take it to chess.com administration, not to point fingers in the forums.  Just my opinion.

I thought this was a new group I could join.  I often get mad at myself for losing a game and I even kicked my desk once after losing badly to a lower-rated opponent.

I felt like a sore loser and my toe was quite sore as well. Embarassed
