You forgot to mention "comfy chess"

Way off in the future '' comfy chess '' is all I will ever remember about this forum !

Hilarious! Same here!

Awesome terminology - is 'comfy chess' a synonym for 'bathrobe chess' or 'underpants with a bowl of cheerios' chess?   That last one could be shortened to UBC chess

It totally makes me think of taking a hot bath and playing a game of chess for leisure!Wink

watch out.  electronics, wine, and water don't mix.

Just checked stats for TheGrobe and very impressive but if you ever try 10/0 rapid tourney you will find it is not anytime but very time demanding.

valyar

How about the chess?

valyar

or classic chess?

TheGrobe

It's hardly classic.

valyar

or cc chess (for classic correspondence chess)

TheGrobe

Correspondence just doesn't quite capture it.  It implies mail (or e-mail).

The first of these is vastly superior to the second, IMHO. OTOH, I see little reason to spurn tradition and the established term, correspondence chess. Still yet, innovative marketing lies at the heart of the success of this site, and so your motivation for spurning tradition seems rational.

Can I change my vote to daily chess in the spirit of compromise?

TheGrobe

Yeah, I don't care for "anytime" either.

What about contemplative chess?

valyar

In the online world, it is classic. Don't we specify OTB for "normal" chess? The same goes for "correspondence", imho. I hardly ever use post mail or write checks (and I am not a trend-setter!). Regular mail is online now.

Does this mean that even if most people are in favour of Correspondence Chess, you will veto it? If so, why was it listed as a choice? I think we should allow the chess.com community to decide here, and I agree that Correspondence Chess has the most professional sound by far.

theriverman

daily chess and anytime chess was part of the learning processWink

valyar

daily chess sounds like you have to finish it in a day. It also excludes 3-day limits, etc.

theriverman

correspondence is old.

netzach

Think more choices should be added to vote panel.

theriverman

Hang Ten Chess, lol
