Why are there very few women who play chess??

JoeTutor

They are generally more practical, sensible people.

Or maybe they've solved chess but are too kind to ruin the game for men by revealing the solution?

Mimchi

I hate to come off as a condescending nit-picker, but I will analyze your statement:

Why are there very few women who play chess??

WHY ARE THERE VERY FEW:

Firstly, ARE THERE? What data are you basing this on? From the beginning of time? From human evolution? From modern chess play? You must be way more specific.

WOMEN: Do you mean physically? Mentally? By what critertion are we judging? What about gender identity? Once again, you must explain.

WHO PLAY CHESS: "Play" is unclear. Play as in they know the rules, or play in tournaments, or are a certain rating according to what governing body?

Please rephrase your question so people who think logically are able to answer you in a rational manner.

Analyze? The question is clear. It has been the subject of hundreds of discussions on here and the conclusion is always that most women prefer the company of real men as opposed to the lost, lonely and introverted that make up the large majority of chess playing men.

@Mimchi

1. Yes, there are far fewer women chess players. That's why there are WGM and WIM titles, to try to encourage more women to play chess. That's why when you go to a chess tournament, most of the players sitting at boards are men. That's why most of the top hundred chess players are men.

2. The word 'women' is very specific. Gender is not a state of mind, it is contained in your DNA. X and Y chromasomes. Go study biology and you will discover that although there are more than two genders, the gender of 'woman' is not difficult to understand.

3. Play is very clear. No, of course not 'know the rules'. You could know the rules of a game and never play it. Again, it's a simple word, look it up!

You are a very silly sausage and you should buy a dictionary.

The original question was very clear as stated and does not need to be re-phrased.

Yeah I agree. Women have probably already solved chess and just don't want to ruin it for us. Surprised
