Bare feet

Sort:
ATJ1968

Sometimes during games my feet get quite hot during games causing my feet to itch, so have to take my trainers and socks off. Other players in the room usually find this offensive. I've tried wearing flip flops, but find a big clunk of rubber wedged between my toes very uncomfortable. Help please?

On the incredibly remote chance that you're not having us on, have you tried sandals?

rooperi

Maybe wear wet socks?

Sandals? God no. I'd look a stereotypical chess player then.

good idea that.

why not wear socks and shoes (any shoes) and then when you get inside take them all off in the bathroom and go bear feet? (or you can just bear with the itch until it goes away!)

DrFrank124c

Why not just take off all your clothes while you're at it.

Get an epidural during the match, the whole lower half of your body will go numb and you can concentrate on your chess.

Theres also a famous player well known for his ability to keep his shoes on, maybe you can get some tips from him

Just walk in with bare feet but paint some shoes on, I'm sure no one will notice.

By your own admission; your feet get hot and cause you to itch. You have the beginnings of atlelets feet. Try Desenex foot powder!

Other players might find it offensive??  perhaps  you have stinky feet???

Also....a burning sensation in your feet may be caused by nerve damage in the legs, also called neuropathy. Although many medical conditions can cause burning feet, diabetes is the most common....have you checked with your doctor?

Many other conditions can cause neuropathy with a burning sensation in the feet:

  • Chronic kidney disease (uremia)
  • Vitamin deficiency (vitamin B12 and occasionally vitamin B6)
  • Alcohol abuse
  • Low thyroid hormone levels (hypothyroidism)
  • Lyme disease
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Amyloid polyneuropathy
  • Drug side effects, including chemotherapy drugs, vitamin B6 overdose, HIV medicines, isoniazid, amiodarone, metformin, and  others
  • Heavy metal poisoning (lead, mercury, arsenic)
  • Vasculitis (inflammation of blood vessels)
  • Sarcoidosis
  • Guillain-Barre syndrome
  • Arterial disease
  • Edema or fluid retention
  • Hypertension

Maybe you have atheletes foot? Either way, wash often and I suggest visiting the local pharmacy for an OTC cream for it.

lol u can ask the chess playing reflexology experts. Chess.com is where I go for all my medical needs!

Really? Chess.com? lol

Apply Aloe Vera to your feet before going to the tournament. Maybe then you may be able to keep your shoes on. I've seen people take off their shoes while reading in the public library. No one says anything but everyone who sees it knows that person is very low class, to say the least.
