Slow games are more satisfying (and you're more able to control the outcome) but of course not as convenient as online chess.
Anyway, if you do play speed games online, have to be prepared for trash talking... which certainly isn't something unique to chess.
At least on chess.com you can disable chat and not let non-friends post in your notes.
Just look at all the people who hate on draws. It's like they have to win or else....
...or get mad and start vehemently cursing you and you family lineage if you don't accept a rematch... That's REAL classy...
Maybe we shouldn't say that chess is the least classy game, but that it's a classy game that draws people who are on the lookout all the time for some way to show that they're bigger than everyone else, even if they really just aren't.
Wouldn't that apply only to online (anonymous and risk free) chess? Hard to claim you're bigger than someone else if they are sitting right across from you and can punch you at any moment lol
It isn't chess that's least classy; it's just the few dumb people that only make a small fraction of the chess-playing population.
The people who play ( edited by moderator-language) at it on this site and play mind games to try and win games including flagging and boasting about how intelligent they are over their rating.
It's a joke.
Chess doesn't prove anything period. It's just another game.
There's no IQ basis for chess as much as anything else.
