Good Chess Coaches in the Chicago area?

Sort:
Shivsky

A request for a friend. He's moving to Chicago and wanted to know if there were any good chess coaches (who can work with a 5-year old) in the Chicago area.  I know there are tons of online + phone coaches out there, but he'd prefer an in-person arrangement for his daughter.

Thanks in advance!

Yuri Shulman. He has a website, but I don't remember it. I'm sure you can locate it on Google.

Renaissance Knights has several outstanding coaches we work with in Chicago who teach private students including some that are FIDE certified trainers.  Our website is www.renaissanceknights.org.

Hi, my name is John Crissman and I live in Chicago.  I am a US chess expert and have been a chess coach in over 30 schools in the Chicago land area since 2010.  Currently, with the COVID-19 situation, all of my coachings have been remote.  I also tutor mathematics for all grade levels K-12 and college-level math.  I have an M.S. in Computer Science.

I'd recommend www.mchess.org. They have a number of in-person tutors and teach in 9 schools around Chicagoland. They really care about the emotional intelligence of the teachers.
The pricing is pretty reasonable, $35 for 1 hour with a chess master online, or ~$75 in person.

I don't think they needed it after 6 years but okay. Thank you on behalf of them for letting us know.
