Don't just look at the moves they make. Look at the position and ask yourself what move you would make, then look at the move they make. If they're not the same, try to find out why they picked their move over yours.

I'm having trouble applying ideas I learn from grandmaster games. Like I understand the moves they make. they make perfect sense. I'm just having trouble applying those ideas to my own games. any help would be appreciated
