Ask her to resign.
Should I let my girlfriend beat me in a chess tournament?
Play to win, I refer you to the scene in "The Color oi Money" where Paul Newman and Tom Cruise are hustling some guys and Tom Cruise feels sorry for the guy... watch the movie if you haven't seen it
It might go this way:
Dominate the game, lose the girl.
Lose ugly, lose the girl.
Best bets, if you're good enough, chop wood and try to set up a drawing position. Or, chop wood until almost everythings off and win with a passed pawn.
So I was entering a chess tournament tommorow, and my girlfriend felt bored and wanted to join. Only problem is that she is a complete begginer and doesn't know any tactics.
The worst part is that I'm actually against her tommorow. Should I purposely let her beat me, or should I play an honest game? If so, how can I lose without it looking intentional?
wierd game it could turn out to be if she also want to lose to make you feel better.
Check ou the movie preview "The Thomas Crown Affair" clip in this thread and I think you will have your answer:
