Hi all,

This is a request from me to all members who receive tourney invites. If you do not wish to take part in the particular tourney then,PLEASE,don't just ignore or delete them, click the "no thank you" icon on the invitation. This allows the TD to invite more players up to the allowed maximum,by not doing this you use up an invite that then becomes "dead" but you are still shown on the tourney list of players as "invited".The more invitees who would be kind enough to follow this simple and polite procedure the better for the TD who is then able to invite other members who might wish to participate in the tourney.

Thank youSmile,

Good luck with your chess,

wallyjackCool

No worries, mate. That's why I have posted this forum.I am certain that 99% of Chess.com members are, like you, unaware of this fact and how much they can help the TD and the tourney by simply clicking the "no thank you" icon.

wasn't aware of that either, will do so in future. I think for some of the group invites I get it's beeter to delte and protect some other poor person from getting spammed :-)

Hi MM78,

I don't think that sending tourney invites can or should be classed as "spam".All the TD is trying to do is invite players who he thinks will make his tourney stronger, better, fairer and more even in ratings, but your point is well made. The new feature of being able to invite whole groups to a tourney does irritate some players and their best recourse is to put the inviter on their "black list",this stops any further contact re tourneys, etc.I hastened to add that I don't use the "invite groups" in my tourneys, simply for that reason.

Wallyjack- MM78 did not say tournament invites are spam. He said GROUP invites are spam. And I agree with him. If I want to be in a group, I will go look for one.

Tournaments, on the other hand, catch my interest.

I also did not know this simple procedure but will remember it in the future for sure. THX

I think a lot of little points like this are very helpful, especially for new people who (like me) just play chess. I never search around sites for instructions, I suppose that is a bit irresponsible, but i don't have the time. I use this to relax and have fun and a laugh. I am all educated to the max at my age. Wink

Just trying now to practice what i have learnt. Undecided rightly or wrongly!  haha
