"Coming world champion" and so on is overrated. Look at Sergey Karjakin, he was youngest grandmaster with 12 and some years ago people discussed about future world championship matches between him and the Carlsen.
Now Karjakin is "only" No. 12 in the world and seems to be no more realistic world championship candidate then David Navarra, who ist 13th. Look at all players between them and Carlsen: http://2700chess.com/
Wei Yi is the youngest ever 2700 player. Thats a nice record. We will see how he continues. But for me there is no reason to hype him.
Do you think people are overrating him or hyping him is justified?
