What is the longest drawing streak?

Sort:

I have drawn my last three Online Chess games. This represents my longest streak of draws on Chess.com.

I started to wonder: Has anyone drawn as many as ten games in a row (whether all in one category [e.g., Live Blitz], or in all categories [i.e., Online, Live, and Chess960] taken together)? Has anyone drawn more consecutive games than this?

What is the longest known drawing streak on Chess.com, and who has it?

MrEdCollins

I don't keep track of those types of stats for online games because to me online games don't mean anything.

But as far as over-the-board tournament games go, my conseuctive drawing streak is just four.  The last round of the 2012 Lina Grummette Memorial Day Classic was a draw, and then I drew my first three games at my next tournament, the 2012 National Open in Las Vegas.

As far as my best consecutive over-the-board "non-losing" streak, I think that's 11 games.  (8 wins, 0 losses, and three draws during an 11 game span.)

Karjakin drew all 10 of his games in the Candidates 2014 :)

Anyways i don't know if anyone even had a long drawing streak here in chess.com that isn't prearranged cause strong players usually win alot and weak players usually win and lose alot and not draw

@MrEdCollins and XDave121X: Thanks for sounding off. The original question refers to drawing streaks--and not undefeated streaks, which topic is covered in another thread--on Chess.com (although such streaks in actual tournaments would also be interesting).

I surmise that strong players on Chess.com would draw fairly often against other strong players.

If you are talking about live games here, strong players usually only play bullet or 3mins, so there are not too many draws.

@SocialPanda: I'm talking about any games, whether they be Live, Online, Chess960, or a mixture. Smile

My vote goes to Commander Mark and the Secret City Mural.

I was thinking that there might be a very good player who gets into a superior position and then offers a draw and if that is not accepted, actually force a draw by something like a stalemate.

Tal: "When I want to win against Benko, I win, when I want to draw, I draw!" (Benko rejected a draw offer some moves earlier despite having lost all his previous games to Tal).

The Karjakin draw streak that you referred to happened during the 2014 Gashimov Memorial. Karjakin also drew various games prior to that tournament and after it, which resulted in a draw streak consisting of some 25 games.

longest draw strek in hiostory i think is 84-85 championship. Karpov and Kasparov had a total of 40 draws, including one 18 game streak

Better ask *fabelhaft*. He is a chess history genius! :)

Regarding chess.com, I have no idea but I probably had 10 games drawing streak because I offered it to many players because I was fed up with chess at the time, and many accepted.
