"Insufficient material" is when BOTH sides lack either the force or the clock-time to mate.
Eg: one player runs out of time, the other player has only a Knight left.
why doesn't "insufficient material" come on? [live chess]

how come when I am playing people (in live chess) and I capture all their pieces "insufficient material" comes on but when I lose all my pieces (except the king) the game just continue like it's retarded?
How is a game suppose to continue if one side doesn't have material (except the king), why doesn't that message always pop on? Why does the computer just sit there and wait until you choose to resign?
