I want to setup a position and analyze/play game with computer from that position. How do I do that? I am a platinum member.

Bump.

I want to know if you can and how to do this on the website.  I have Chessmaster XI Grandmaster Edition for windows and I'm pretty sure I can do that, but there doesn't seem to be an option to analyze a position on Chess.com.

"but there doesn't seem to be an option to analyze a position on Chess.com."

That's bad! It's basic feature that Chess.com should provide, at least to paid members. What a shame. I should have known this before I became a paid member.

I've been playing around with the analyze function a bit and it seems you can set up the board with the "Position Set-Up" tab and then use the "Game Editor" tab to move the pieces and make notes on the moves (analyze). I don't think there's an option to have the game 'play out' the best moves based on a given position like a chess engine would.  Perhaps you could find something in the "Downloads" section that would provide the analysis you are looking for (and, are entitled to - in my opinion - as a paying member).  Or, you could shell out the $20 on EA's website for Chessmaster XI Grandmaster edition OR the $100 for one of the new Fritz or Shredder engines.

It's a shame Chess.com doesn't offer this service to paying members.  Perhaps it would be too demanding on processors to do it over the internet, as Chess.com prides itself on the whole "nothing to download" and "play in your browser" aspect of its site.

I should note that the Chessmaster I keep mentioning is a FANTASTIC game/tool with tons of puzzles, game analyses, video lessons, etc etc. Totally worth the $20 for the download (or, uh, you didn't hear it from me but you can probably find all this stuff - deep Shredder included - on some torrent site lol).

There are tons of good, free software out there that can do that for you. It's actually a lot better to do it on your pc so you can keep a better record of your games.

I found a suitable online analyzer at chesslab.com. It analyzes a given position and gives you the best move.

You can now use Stockfish online at chesseng.heroku.com
