There is a plethera of new stong viruses on a global basis just since the 1st of the year. Chess.com so far, is a trusted secure site. Being careful is not enought. Did Dell do that for you remotely??
Virus from tool bar.
Another site to stay away from is Torrent. U-Tube ads are starting to have viruses. You may have had a dorment virus, and it hopped on board with the next thing you downloaded. Just out of curiosity, what did DELL bite you for, $200.??
Oh, Dell didn't charge as I have a maintainance agreement with them & all I do is call & they fix stuff. I had Windows XP & this has Windows 7. in it. I don't like it but they're stopping support for XP in April.
tHANKS , jOHN
hA !! That's just what I was using before , when I had Windows XP !! Now I will see if I can get that back somehow. Do I have to download it ?
Thanks again !!
didn't you get divorced for profit?? Yes you have to download it. Get it direct from Google/httpS Divorced is just troling.
I doubt chess.com would be responsible for that. However, I think you should contact support directly because if there really is something wrong I guess they would appreciate learning about it.
I had the same thing a few days ago
http://www.chess.com/forum/view/help-support/weird-links
Luckily I was able to remove it on my own though
windows it's retarded and imensly stupid, you shouldn't download anything on it.
agreed
It sounds like they were blaming it on something that is not chess.com related. I highly doubt that chess.com would give you a virus intentionally, you probably had the virus to begin with or clicked on a link that brought you to a site that wasn't chess.com
Honestly from your posts it sounds like you are not very tech savy so who knows how you actually got the virus.
I'm just curious...Is the Chess.com toolbar actually the Conduit toolbar? Or did the Chess.com toolbar also install the Conduit toolbar? (And if so, did Chess.com ask you for permission to install Conduit?)
I don't know much about Conduit, but it seems to be a browser hijacker that's extremely difficult to remove. As far as I'm concerned, it's malware.
I downloaded the Chess.com toolbar today & had to have Dell to remove it . They said it was caused by that Conduit place, a known Virus giving place. I'll never download a thing they say on Chess. com again. Disgusting that Chess.com would do that to me. Over 2 hours getting rid of that place.
Has anyone else experienced this ?
