Abort Warnings

Hello everyone! I have a question about the abort warnings you get if you abort games before they start. What happens if your opponent doesn't move a piece after like...thirty seconds, and I say hello, or good luck with no response? Usually in these circumstances, I wouldn't want to waste my time waiting for them to move, if they were going to move at all. Especially in bullet chess, I want to just play, not wait around for a minute doing nothing.

On the flip side, I normally take 10-15 seconds after white has made the first move before I decide which defense to use. At least half of my opponents abort the game! The weird thing is, I get the warning message from chess.com saying not to abort games. Are people really this impatient?

I can understand your frustration if black just sits there for a long period of time, but surely you don't abort after a few seconds.

To the OP, as of now, the server should be automatically aborting games if the first move is not made in 15-20 seconds. If this is NOT the case, please message me with the approximate time the game started/ended and the name of your opponent, and we'll see if there's anything strange in the logs.

To GreenField85, this applies to Black's first move as well, so you might want to make that first choice a little quicker to avoid the server giving up on you. :) After the first moves are made and the clocks start, it's business as usual.

Ah. I wasn't aware that the server automatically aborted games within the first 15-20 seconds.

It's pretty new. ;)

In a 15:0 match, if my opponent makes his first move, and then doesn't move any more, even if he remains logged in, how long will I have to wait before I win?
