how about a 'are you still there' button to kill timewasters?

i'm currently beating a person who has given up and not made a move for 6 mins. rude. how about a button for forcing timewasters to move or quit; they have to press it back within 10 seconds to show they're still there and looking at the screen...?

10 seconds is not enough to take a leak...

mjs92

only got 3 points too!

This sounds like another idea that will create more  problems (and complaints) than it will solve

Doctor_Spaceman

I'd support that

A player could spam the button to distract his opponent from thinking.

What a good idea except I dont like the 10 second delay, it should be like 1 second, honestly how long should it take? And you should be able click as many times as you need to.

Also the oppnent should have a button that asks chess trivia, so he can be sure he isnt playing a bot. so while clicking are you still there, you have to answer questions like "What was the score of the McDonnell/LaBourdannaiase match" and you have 3 seconds to type in your response or you forfeit on your opponents move.

This isn't the "you should be forced to resign" thread. Just FYI, in case you thought it was :)

Ubik42

Maybe not, but they probably should be merged.

Well, yeah (and, what about #2?).

KillTheHorsie

Only half of the time belongs to you.  Your opponent can do whatever he or she wants with his (or her) time.

KillTheHorsie

Think on their time; it messes with their heads.

I think there should be an automatic loss on disconnect without exceptions. Poor connections cannot be avoided.
