White to play and win....when i first saw this i couldnt beleive that white could win this, all black has to do is push his pawn and the white pawn can never queen!

I remember the first time I saw this study--I had a very similar reaction to you, gumpty. Some studies can get a bit stale with familiarity, I think, but the simplicity of this one is still very strking--it certainly sticks in the mind.

 

It was composed by Heuacker, by the way, and published in the Neue Freie Presse in 1930.
