. . . is because it forces you to find a move that is not intuitive. It's so unnatural and unlikely to be good to put the N in one of the 4 corner squares. Most probably tried to calculate Ng5 first. But that obviously does not work.


Lesson: When you are trying to calculate how to get a N to a specific square, look for alternative routes, especially if the initial one does not work very well. At the same time, see if there are alternative squares that work just as well (here g6 works, and f3 does not because the Black N covers it).
