If anyone is interested in playing OTB chess in the North East, you are more than welcome to come along and we have members of all ages and abilities from 8-80 and 200-2250, and play time controls from 5 min (or less!) skittles to 90 mins for 36 moves +15 minute quickplay rated games. Unlike many clubs, our higher rated players actually turn up to club nights and play blitz (when they are in town at any rate) as we have a real community feel to the club.

We have arguably the strongest juniors in Scotland (plenty of good juniors in other clubs too though), both in terms of number of congress level juniors and highest rated juniors.

We are currently running a 50min for all moves with 30second increment tournament (every tuesday), and although we are three rounds in to the 5 round tournament we could easily fit you in I am sure (with advance warning). Possibly even with multiple byes to make sure you get opponents of roughly your level.
