Occupation: Instructor/Journalist/Model
I call myself Kimberly (not 'Kim'! Please do not call me 'Kim') which is my middle name (August in my screen name refers to my birth month).
I am a United States Chess Federation member who used to play at the Scholastic Tournaments (I appeared many times in the Scholastic Tournament magazine in my heyday) . Being a tactical player (rather than a positional), I prefer uncomplicated Openings and Open Games. My OTB Opening preferences are: as White; Spanish Opening; and, as Black; Sicilian Defence against 1.e4, and, Indian Defence against 1.d4. Here at Chess.com, I also play English Opening as White and Caro-Kann Defence as Black; and will test some other interesting White Openings and Black Defences against strong players (For that must be one major reason why we are playing Online). I do not drag a game; I resign early if I am in a lost position (Please do the same to me). My early resignation also involves my opponent's rudeness, vulagarity, patronizing, and using powerful German brand chess engines against me (Their positional moves are simply incomprehensible to me). I will have to take it for granted that I should play against computer when I play live at this site (So many people have installed Fritz there). However, I do not want to play against computer when I play turn-based games.
I decline a challenge (as well as a Friend Request) when I cannot find any personal information in the player's profile.
If you are unable to challenge me because of the setting, please send me a message for the game. I will consider to challenge you an unrated game. Notice that I will not play a game in which the move timeout period is more than three (3) days. I will not play a slow game that lasts months and years.
Friend Request: I understand the word, ‘friend’ in the ‘Friend Request,’ as ‘chess friend.’ I accept the friend request only of who has played a game with me, expecting her/him to play with me on regular base, in the future. If you have not played a game with me, then you have to do it first (Challenge me before you send me your Friend Request!). Please introduce yourself if you have not written your profile. I decline the request if I cannot find any personal information about the player (Ask yourself how you befriend anyone in the beginning). As mentioned above, the maximum number of days for which I will accept the challenge is three (3) days. I enjoy chatting during the game, but I am here mainly for the games, not for social networking. Please do not delve into my private life.
Groups & Teams: I have my own agenda at this site; and I have no desire to become a member of any Group or any Team. Therefore, please do not invite me to yours. I will simply ignore your invitation. Although I used to (more correctly, 'had to' in my school years) play at the Scholastic Tournaments as a school team member, to all intents and purposes, I am no team player.
Photo Albums: When I joined Chess.com, I was unaware that the Photo Albums were available. After a thorough consideration (For I am a professional not an amateur with respect to photography), I decided to publish my own, expecting my chess friends at this site to appreciate those photographs as artwoks (Because they are!). Currently, I have fourteen (14) Photo Albums, and they can be viewed only by my 'friends.' Chess is a gentlemen’s game without question. I expect my chess friends to act like the ones. If I find disrespectful, patronizing, sarcastic, rude, and/or vulgar comments in any Album, I will not hesitate to remove the responsible person from my friend list immediately and permanently.
Thank you for reading. Hoping everyone have a great time at this site!
