Saurabh Barve is an International FIDE Rated Player from Mumbai. He has been playing Competitive Chess since 1992, from the age of 7. He regularly represents India at international Chess tournaments all over the world & has won prizes for India in 10 different countries. He has won many National level Tournaments, represented Mumbai University at Nationals & excelled in various International Tournaments. He loves attacking opponent’s king & has consistently defeated World-class Grand Masters including Gerald Schebler of Germany, Simonian Hrair of Armenia, R.R.Laxman of India, International Masters & many reputed players.
He has been actively involved in the promotion of Chess. He is the founder & President of Chess Promoters Group - an organization formed to organize technically sound, professional chess tournaments.
He is also the founder & President of Brilliant Academy, formed to improve the IQ of students, to increase Chess literacy, create Chess awareness among general masses & create passion for the game. He regularly organizes free chess seminars & arranges free lectures in some impoverished schools.
