Note to Fellow Admins
Being that I am Super-Admin of more than one group (listed below), I'd like to pass on a little more information about me and my schedule and ways of doing things; this may help members in the groups I help manage as well as other Admins/Super-Admins.
My work hours are Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, 12 hour days; then, every other Wednesday. That means I have 3 days off one week, 4 days off the next. So, Sunday through Tuesday/Wednesday, don't expect me to get much done or make many chess moves!
I refuse to be rushed or bullied into locking matches. Feel free, please, to send me reminders. Please refrain from demands, big bold letters, etc. Remind me you're there and that the match needs attention. I do my best to fill the boards, but in reality, it's the individual members who decide if they will or will not participate. Typically, I allow a match to sit for 3 days -- enough time for everyone to see that it is there -- before I consider locking. I look primarily for balanced matches; so, if the boards are pretty much even or if you have a slight advantage, likely, I will lock. If you have an overwhelming advantage, I'm sure that you understand that I will not lock; I will attempt to rally troops, and that failing, I will cancel the match. I have also been known to remove a couple lower boards when they are severaly outmatched (over 100 points or more, generally speaking), but not enough to remove your well-earned advantage; just enough for some "damage control".
I do log on daily, even on my work days; I check my messages, check comments, check group activity alerts, make just enough moves to prevent timeouts, and that's about it. So, if you are an admin and you have locked your team, wondering why I haven't locked as well, this could be the reason. I just don't get much done!
Thursdays through Saturdays and every other Wednesday is when I accomplish most of the things an admin needs to accomplish. If you, as an admin, feel I am lollygagging about getting a match started, leave a note on my home page or send me a message or leave a comment. Typically, I make most of these decisions Thursday, Friday and Saturday. So, if you don't see me locking matches Sunday, Monday or Tuesday, it's probably because I'm very tired from working and just getting the basics done to get to bed. If you don't see me locking on Thursday, Friday or Saturday, I'm trying to rally troops for you!
Occupation Janitor: Not a very glorious occupation, but it's a living. (Because I work 12 hour shifts, my moves will likely be very slow on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, so bear with me!)

In my "real" life, I am from Kansas.
Sci-Fi Buff!

My Chess Games
Interests
Chess, Computers and Aviation top the list.
Favorite Music
Anything 80's (almost). Top 5 favorite artists: The Eagles, Bob Seger, Meat Loaf, Dire Straits, Roxette and Tina Turner.
I love Classical and Celtic!
Favorite Author
Got burned out on reading a long time ago, but I still enjoy Stephen King. Mr. King takes me into the mind of the bad guy; so when the villain gets his just deserts, I feel for him or her, regardless of how dispicable and evil they are!
Favorite Movies
Too many to mention, so let's go with genre: I love a good thriller or a good Sci Fi. Among the thrillers, I prefer the psychological thriller; i.e. The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, Single White Female, Internal Affairs. Action/Adventure is cool and many of these newer Superhero movies are great! I typically dislike comedies, but I do like: Life of Brian, Airplane!, Caveman, Young Frankenstein.
Favorite Stars
Kevin Costner, Mel Gibson, Morgan Freeman, Sean Connery.

I believe that the purpose of life is to be happy. From the moment of birth, every human being wants happiness and does not want suffering. Neither social conditioning nor education nor ideology affect this. From the very core of our being, we simply desire contentment. I don't know whether the universe, with its countless galaxies, stars and planets, has a deeper meaning or not, but at the very least, it is clear that we humans who live on this earth face the task of making a happy life for ourselves. Therefore, it is important to discover what will bring about the greatest degree of happiness. [Dali Lama]
There's nothing more complicated than perception. [Rick Berman]
When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. [Thomas Jefferson]
When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.
When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.
When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.
When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn't a Jew.
When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

In the desert I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
Who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.
I said, "Is it good, friend?"
"It is bitter-bitter,", he answered.
"But I like it because it is bitter,
And because it is my heart."
