About Me:
In the 1990's during my younger years, we used to have our chess practise at St. Joseph's Secondary School every Tuesday evening.
Those were the days when we usually keep on playing and analysing the game until late at night (or should I say until early morning). If your game happened to be the game highlight of the evening, once the game had finished, everyone will come to your table and started to analyse the game for you. Sometime, even when we were still in the game, some of the keen chess players would be spectators and started to study the game even much more harder than you were while you were still in that game.
During those days, we don't have computer to play with and the only resources are Chess Books. (Computer was a household luxury during those days). So, everyone who wished to excel in their chess repertoire has got to be a bookworm; read lots of reference books about Chess.
After that, I went for further study and started to pick up tennis and kept my chess sets in the wardrobe. I only started picking up chess again about less than a year now when I realised that I was so bored staying alone in my hotel room. (I travels alot).
That was where I had stumbled across chess.com and had realised that I had missed chess so much. The modern technology nowadays are so much different compared to the 1990's when I was a very active chess player.
Initially, I was very rusty (as I didn't play for a long time) and I took the game very lightly as well (lost my touch). My first on line game at chess.com was a total dismay - I lost to a young lady whose rating was not even 1000. Live Chess - I've played only just a handful of games and most of the time I got disconnection. (There has to be some improvement on Beta Live Chess).
At one stage, I did have more than 100 on line games at one time. I thought I was going to play a simultaneous chess but later it backfired. Then, mistakes and blunders started to crop in as a person's mind just couldn't handle too many games at one time. I've learned my lesson well and now I'm spreading the time frame from 3 days to 7 days per move. Before, I loved to play like rookies, experimenting with unfamiliar moves. Now I think I have to make a change in my approach towards my game.
I loves to join Vote Chess forum as it would enables me to learn the repertoires from stronger players. I had the advantage to analyse the game based on the tips given. This really helps me alot in improving my games.
It has been a long time that I didn't visit ChessCube as I've found out that chess.com suits my needs better. Here, I feels so much at ease and it is also very convenient. But again, this is just a matter of choice. (My rating at ChessCube was 1700++).
To you guys out there, happy surfing and have some fun in your game...
