About Me:

I'm an anachronism -- a Morse telegraphist in an Email age. I spent the '80s competing in triathlon and running marathons, was the breakfast announcer on AIR-FM community radio for a couple of years and called square dances at Footloose Squares. These days I teach Creative Writing at U3A.

Most of my stories and newspaper columns are at http://www.tomorrowland.info

Average chess player. Have won a few restricted tournaments but nothing to get excited about. I'm hoping those people who believe in reincarnation have got it right because, if that happens, I'm gunna start studying chess a whole lot earlier next time around.

For all those people who keep asking, "Dozy" comes from a column I wrote for a Square Dance magazine.  I used the pseudonym "Dozy Do" and the editor called the column "Dancing With Dozy".  It stuck.

Mikhail Tal was, at his peak, an irresistible force. World champions past, present and future—including Smyslov, Botvinnik, Petrosian, Spassky and Fischer—fell to the wizardry of combinations which may sometimes have been unsound but were extrem...Read more »
