Hello everybody! My name is Daniel Goncalves and I live in Sao Paulo Brazil. I was born in 1979. My personal web site is: http://www.danielbgg.com.br I'm a computer engineer and work with software development. Computers were always a passion for me. My main hobbies are: chess, videogames and scuba diving. Unfortunately chess in Brazil isn't a main activity (people here prefer to play and watch soccer). So that it is difficult to find tourneys and I don't have an official rating. I usually play badly in faster time controls. I really prefer longer time controls (even though ICC blitz tournaments are very fun). That's why my standard rating in ICC is better than blitz. My dad taught me chess when I was 10 years old. However, I just started to take it seriously many years later, when I was 25 and decided that it was time to beat my father! (nowadays I can beat him around 60-70%). I've been studying and improving my chess since then. I would like to thank IM Luis Coelho and IM Marcus Vinicius Moreira Santos for the classes they provided me. I really enjoyed them and I'm a much better player than I was. I would like to thanks ICC and New in Chess magazine for the 1 year subscription I won replying the GOTD trivia question! On September 2011, I had the opportunity to visit the Sao Paulo - Bilbao Grand Slam final where I could see: Viswanathan Anand, Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, Vassily Ivanchuk, Levon Aronian and Francisco Vallejo. It was amazing!!
