I learned how to play chess, or more precisely how to lose repeatedly, from my older brother starting when I was about eight. I remember probably a hundred games of which I may have won a couple! Anyway, I learned to love the simple beauty and endless variety of the game and have played off and on ever since. I continue to improve slowly and someday hope to EARN an 1800 rating.
