czechhappens
(I'd have to admit I'm probably a much better teacher than I am a player. I made my living teaching chess in public schools for about three years in Binghamton & Endicott, upstate NY.) I was at this scholastic tourney maybe 10-12 years ago, with sections for all different age groups and ratings, etc., and the second to last round was about over. Everyone drifted over to the last table where you could still hear a clock being pounded. You could hear a rapid volley of moves being made, plunk, CLACK, plunk, CLACK, like blitz. So I see these 2 young boys goin at it, both around age 9, maybe rated 800 or so, with 45 seconds left for each, and everyone watching has crossed their arms and is grinning. Both boys had only a King left, and one of them was determined, his jaw clenched, and he looked up at us and said "I'll get him..."
