About two years ago, I was at my friend's house in South Africa. There was a board set up, and my friend and her sister decided to play a game. I was bored at first, but then the conversation started to go like this...
'What's that?' 'A rook.' 'Oh... how does it move?' 'Like this.' 'And what's that?' 'A bishop.' 'Huh... and which way does it go?' 'Diagonally.'
I watched them play two more games, and that was all it took for me to love chess.
