I am 37. I am married. I have a 3 year old son. I am very analytical. I tend to be introverted. I am also intuitive.Chess is currently my favorite and only full time hobby.
I like to play openings intuitively(with some degree of calculation of course), instead of trying to memorize a bunch of book opening variations. This might be my biggest downfall as a chess player.
I have often wanted a master or above to evaluate my play and see if they agree that this could really help to get me over the hump. I have taken some tests that didn't really involve opening theory very much(mostly middle and end game tactics and calculation), they all pretty much say that I am on the cusp of being as adept as a master candidate.
Some of my other hobbies include writing and playing music, on several instruments, making wine, small electrical and electronic engineering projects, and writing self help information and fictional stories.
If you can't tell my ambitions and passions tend to be greater than my time or resources. None the less, I tend to put myself completely into what I try. I am a perfectionist, where I think it is feasible.
To give you a better idea of what kind of person I am. A friend of mine and I love to pass an acoustic guitar back and forth, while we play a serious chess game. This is probably an absurd idea to a chess purist. However, this is how intellectually stimulated I prefer to be at all times. This is a way, to not only share our ideas in a multitasking way, due to our lack of free time, but its a way of being entertained and not letting our serious chess game stress us out.
