I started playing in my early teens. The only reason i started playing then was because a school teacher organized a tournament. I remember making it to the final--maybe half a dozen kids registered to play with none having any experience. I dont even remember who became champion. The point here is that that early experience was a factor in my inclination to pick it back up in a fairly serious way in my 20s. Been playing ever since. Now more than ever with the exception of those two summers in Cambridge, ma, where i played many hours a day almost every day. Wish i could say that all those hours paid off. Cant. I was just playing blitz.
