My father was learning me the rules of chessplaying when I was a five years old little boy. In fact I started playing about twelve with my grandfather, member of a chessclub, just like three of his sons (my uncles).  In 1958 I became also member of this chessclub "GESS" in Sittard. So in the meantime I' m more then 50 years a clubmember. During the sixties and seventies I was five times Champion of the club. After the seventies I played less. My son who is living in Scotland with his wife and two daughters invite me last year (2008) to play chess on chess.com and so I'm back again.

Music is also my hobby. I am the founder and leader of The Hammerfield Stompers (1989) and play the Tuba in this band. (See the homepage)

My nickname tubeuk is tu from Tuba and my familyname Beukelman.
