About Me:
Hello, all.
My name's Chas and I'm 23 years old. I'm a college student first and foremost: I have 4 degrees already (all variations on math and/or computer science) and I'm working towards a Ph.D. in theoretical math and a possible M.S. in computer science. I live in the heart of "the deep south," and I hate it here with a passion. I'm definitely looking forward to moving soon.
My friend taught me how to play chess when I was 8, but my story is without the whole grand genius protagonist beginnings: I just learned how the pieces moved. I always wanted to be good as a kid, but after realizing that I'd never beat my dad and that nobody else really cared, I gave it all up. It wasn't until I was in high school that I actually started playing again; I didn't take it seriously until I was in college, and until this summer, I never bothered studying actively. Since then, I've enjoyed a huge turnaround: I feel like I'm getting better, and everyday I realize that I'm playing the best chess of my life.
Besides chess, I enjoy all the standard nerd hobbies: I do math, write computer code, build hardware systems and read a lot of nonfiction-type books. I'm married to my college sweetheart, but we definitely don't enjoy the same things. I'm into music and movies, but one of my biggest passions is body modification: I spend hours hanging around local tattoo shops, and I enjoy nothing more than the sting of a new piece of work.
Basically, I like a whole lot of this and that.
