Be Wary of Phishing & Other Scams
Be Wary of Phishing & Other Scams
Hi Team Ghana,
It's unfortunate but true: There have been recent attempts to trick Chess.com users like you into revealing their passwords!
.
For instance... Honest users are messaged through the site and asked to re-login to approve some changes made by "staff." However, the link in the message goes to an imitation login page, designed simply to collect usernames & passwords... And these pages can look very convincing (see a real example below).
.
.
Please remember these points to keep your account safe:
- If you get an on-site message from a real Staff member, their username will always have the "Staff" icon beside it.
- Staff members will never ask you for your password.
- If you think your account may have been compromised, go to Account Settings and change your password!
- If you follow a link to our site from somewhere else, please ensure the URL actually belongs to our domain; if the address looks weird (e.g. "chess" is misspelled), do not proceed!
- If you are suspicious about something, please email us at support@chess.com or post a question in the Help & Support forum, and we'll look into it!
.
Thank you - and play safe!
