For some reason, I read the question in the metaphorical sense - as in, the Wizard of Chess is the greatest teacher and the money spent is his rates.  So at that rate, hell yes I would pay.  But if magic is magic, then I agree with all those who protest the idea of waving a wand and being a chess god.  That just sounds like cheating.

oh i see now. this was a product survey. no, chess.com will be lucky if i ever pay for any membership. but yes i would pay over a grand to get to 2400 and recoup my losses through gambling with suckers.

I'd pay more than $1000 as long as it required no large time commitment, ill health etc. Of course, this assumes that it corresponds to increased skill level too.

Then, I could easily recoup that money in tournaments. Plus, I'd enjoy being that much better.

I'm right now at an lower level and also I have only 50 dollars in my bank account so I pretty much not in the mood to buy it.

  If it is legal then why not spend money? My FIDE rating is 2057 so I would need to spend $686 to get an IM title.
