With COVID-19 preventing us from holding over the board tournaments, we are finding new way to stay connected and play online. We are bringing back the Michigan Correspondence Championship (last held in 2013). Could you be our next state correspondence champion? All are welcome. No Previous Correspondence Chess Experience is required!

There will be single round robin preliminary sections, each with 4 to 8 players. The winners from each section will play in the final.

The tournament will be played on the ICCF web server (https://www.iccf.com/) with USCF rules (no computer engines!), with a time control of 10 moves every 30 days. FM Alex Dunne has once again kindly agreed to be our tournament director.

Any questions should be directed to MCA Correspondence Chairman Stan Jarosz.  Stan’s e-mail address is sjarostan@netscape.net.

The entry fee is $15. You must be a member of both the USCF and the Michigan Chess Association, and agree to finish all of your games!  Join the event by signing up online: https://onlineregistration.cc/. Registration must be received by September 30 and the event will start shortly afterward. For questions regarding memberships and online sign-up, contact Jeff Aldrich at jeffchess64@gmail.com.

Prizes: Preliminary section winners will receive a one-year MCA membership extension(equivalent for life members). The winner in the finals will a one-year USCF membership extension (equivalent for life members).
