2022.10.06 Update

Nice to be back!

Well, a small time away anyhow. I've been uploading one YouTube video a week pretty regularly now and usually I work on the video preparation throughout the week and then record the video and upload it on Wednesday afternoon. Well, I've got a big topic I've been working on lately and it has been literally many hours of research and preparation to gather all the content and examples in one place. My plan on Tuesday (I had my OTB chess club Tuesday night, which was unrated, but I went undefeated that night yet that is perhaps a topic for another time) was to do a little more preparation and then do the last few hours of work on Wednesday morning with enough time to record the newest video and then upload it by early Wednesday afternoon...

Tuesday night after my chess club, I stayed up about an hour to get a little more work on it (so I'd have less to do the following day) and then I got a good night's rest. I got up energetic and motivated and as soon as I got through my morning routine, I started preparing my video almost immediately. I worked for about 5 more hours putting together the pgn diagram I'll use for the video and saved it. As I was proofreading and making small adjustments before I record: Bzzz... that was when the power went out. I gave out a sigh of relief: if I had lost electricity just a few minutes earlier, then I'd have lost hours of work! I haven't checked my work since then, but it should be saved and all that should be left is to make those small proofreading adjustments and then record and upload the video

The power went out roughly around noon or so (I was on chess.com pgn diagrams analysis board when the power went out) and it took many hours to get fixed. There was no thunderstorm or anything; nice autumn weather, but for whatever reason all of the houses near us lost electricity too. It came back on today, so it feels good to be back (even if my schedule was pushed back around 24 hours).

My "update" now is that I'll be working on the few tweaks left, then record the new video and hopefully have it uploaded to YouTube either tonight or tomorrow (Eastern Standard Time zone). When I eventually do get it uploaded, I'll comment something here to let everyone know. 

There is never a good time to lose power, but at least I only lost a few minutes of progress compared to the hours I could have lost. I did save halfway through, so I wouldn't have lost everything, but it still would have taken hours longer than it should.
